About this Blog.

"Hidden Koka, Japan" is a local-based cultural and travel blog about life in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. Koka is known as the birthplace of ninja culture, the home of Shigaraki pottery, and a historic stop along old Japanese roads — yet it remains largely unknown outside Japan. I live in Koka and share stories from everyday life, local history, landscapes, crafts, and places that don’t usually appear in guidebooks. This blog is not about famous tourist spots alone, but about the quiet charm of rural Japan — its people, seasons, and small discoveries. Through photography, short essays, and practical travel tips, I hope to offer an authentic view of Koka as it really is, and to help curious travelers discover a deeper side of Japan, off the beaten path.
